Check out his web site for interesting analysis and advice - http://seekingalpha.com/ As a victim of Illinois politics, especially the Chicago sort, I was not excited to see the virus migrate to Washington. Republican Guv in jail, soon to be joined by Dem Blago and the people here are not even whimpering. Why are Chicago schools, managed by Democrat appointees for the last 60+ years the worst in the State and at the bottom of the nation? They need more money! Why do the gangs run the City much as the families used to? Our gun laws are the problem! (even though guns are banned in Chicago.) The truth - politicians are complicit in this mismanagement because that is how money is made. Gangs pay alderman, alderman get the vote out for the Da Mayor, and Da Mayor gets elected. Da Mayor gets greased by the business community to keep property taxes low for the towers, the schools don't get a referendum in fifty years and the uneducated citizens produce more gang members. Priceless... And out of the midst of this swill comes a young community organizer intent to change America. Yikes!

Both parties have spent this country into the poorhouse. I am with you in cleaning house and starting over. Let the markets take care of themselves without governmemt interference. I personally will not support any candidate, regardless of party, unless they are willing to introduce or support a constitutional amendment setting term limits for congress. PS: I am past the depression stage and reviving my 1960's activist mentality.

"Cash for Clunkers" Has anyone thought this through? I know, go green and all. But how about the poor family's in our country that cannot by a new car? They depend on buying those "Clunkers" at used car lots so they can go to work, drive to the store, drive to church, take the family to the mall and so on... Now if we take all those old cars (you know, the cheap ones that the poor can afford) and destroy them in the name of GREEN, what does that do to the price of a used car that the poor family needs to buy?? GET THE PICTURE? The poor cannot afford to buy the car at increased prices due to lack of supply, and pay rent and buy food? Public transportation is non-existant in most places that is efficient enough to get to work, the store, and so on.. Who is benefiting from the "Cash for Clunkers" idea? Lets see... Oh, Government Motors will sell more cars.. you know, green ones, $40,000 each. How many people can afford to buy one... and then replace the battery in 3 years for $8500 and then what do we do with the used battery? It cannot go to the landfill? It has to be shipped to Europe to recycle as we have no facility to do that! And all those who need a cheap car are left carless!!! Is there anyone awake at the wheel in WASHINGTON??? Somehow I thought we had a Government Of the People, By The People and For the People? Not a government that is rapidly becoming a bully that does not care about its people. Wake up America, is this the change you asked for?

Cody, with so much information available these days it takes alot of exposure to the info from various sources (plus logic and common sense) to connect dots. Although it can indeed be depressing to do so at times, thanks for pointing out your observations and for your great work. Keep up the good fight, truth and logic and DETERMINATION will prevail. So many of us share your frustration and hope, including I think many people who might call themselves DEMS or REPUBS now but thanks for mass info may being seeing daylight soon. So much to say...so few characters to use!

I'm hoping all doctors across the country will take a week off at the same time, and let the lawyers and the politicians fill in for them. I've seen Cody rant against all political parties. I disagree with that. I'm turning more toward Libertarianism: live and let live and don't tread on me.

Looks like the date for the National General Strike is going to be Nov. 4, 2009. I'll argue it needs to be in August, but then there's not enough time to get the word to everyone.

As we all know, politicians are mainly users of other peoples talent. Unfortunately, this talent is mostly coming from the economist; and, most of them need to be re-educated. Those economists that use simple mathematical models based on old assumptions, like John Taylor's, are simply getting a false sense of confidence in their lobbying. However, there are a few economists out there that have realized that today's situation is unique and they are starting to speak. That gives me a glimmer of hope. However, by the time everybody is on board with the right solution, a big change to the global marketplace and the US will be complete. There is probably no realistic way to stop it now. In the end, however, I believe the new world order will be based on common sense. That is, there will be more realistic expectations for businesses and the people. Politicians, as usual, will continue to behave like a flag blowing in the wind. In a way, this "is" a revolution.

There's the Democrat Tribe made up of the uber-rich and the poor who have put the pincer movement on us so that they can use our money to buy votes instead of using their own -- There's the Republican Tribe made up of Country Club liberals who are willing to resist socialization until some Democrat whines about them being unreasonable ( SC Senator Graham, Colin Powell are examples) -- and then there's the rest of us. If our government depends on the consent of the governed, then I withdraw my consent. I join you in making war on both Tribes.
