Great post, but you didn’t take it far enough. If each TAXPAYING individuals portion of the 7.1 Trillion is 118,000 (plus or minus) remember that is only what the Fed collects in taxes from your earnings. It is not your earnings. What you need to do is add a step, and divide the 118K by your Federal Tax rate to show you how much you have to EARN to pay off just your portion of the debt. So, 118K divided by 9% is………..one million,three hundred and eleven thousand, one hundred and eleven dollars and ten cents. $1,311,111,10. That’s just earnings to pay the debt, nothing else. Based on my age, years left in the work force and average earnings, my portion will go UNPAID. By a lot.
