The Big 3: Rally Cometh, Energy Hypocrisy, and Energy Hypocrisy

    1. Trade-able Rally Cometh

    2. Obama Energy Hypocrisy

    3. McCain Energy Hypocrisy

    1. I’ve been saying for weeks that the way to trade this market is…er, had been to short the rallies. Sentiment is awfully negative out there right now and that means shorting rallies isn’t such a good idea right now…watch for a big countertrend rally of 5-10% in the next few weeks.

    2. Energy and gas companies get, by Obama’s camp’s own admission, at least $13 billion of federal government “giveaways” every year. So what does Obama’s camp propose? How about hundreds of billions of government “giveaways” to energy and gas companies as long as they’ll try to develop new technologies. Why do I always feel like I’m the only one seeing this obvious circular logic this way?

    3. And McCain? He wants to keep giving away those 13 billion of your tax dollars and also a bunch more, newer and different incentives for the oil and energy companies. We haven’t had a free market for energy in this country or anywhere else on this planet for years…and I’m sick of supporting these companies with my wallet both at the pump, at the meter and with my tax dollars.

If the oil companies pay a hundred billion in taxes a year and the gov gives them 13 billion in tax breaks, is this guy really giving the oil companies money out of his wallet?

Corporations don't pay taxes, you dolt! Corporations pass taxes directly through to you when you purchase their goods and services. If you resist this pass-through, corporations cut costs, e.g., they eliminate your 401(k) match, they transfer health care costs to you--ultimately they'll fire you. And, if that doesn't work, they'll join thousands of other businesses in bankruptcy. Finally, the gov't doesn't "give" money to the "big, greedy, evil" corporations (or to "greedy, evil" small business owners, who file as individuals). You and the other socialists like you need to understand that earnings don't belong to the gov't. Seizing less of one's earnings is not the same as "giving". Please go back to the U.S.S.R. (now defunct) and take your socialist friends with you--you dolt!

The cool thing is about this is the fact the public has realized they've been conned by extremist envorimentalists. With the public more educated about the new technologies about offshore drilling the left is losing the arguements. Those stupid Beltway Know it all policy wonks are losing becouse the winds are against them. I believe its time to put Speaker Nancy Pelosi,Harry Ried and Senator Obama and let them get grilled on how come they are stubbornly against drilling. But let Bill O'Reilly be the one who eats thier lunch on going against the will of the public, thier constutients et all. The real big benefit would be job creation. New jobs up and down the Gulf,East and West Coasts. But people are getting tired of thier lieing and stubborness on this issue. Fact is congress is rating is low that Rocky and Bullwinkle could save the congressional ratings.

So, let's raise the oil companies taxes (or take away "loop holes" however you wish to state it). They will, in turn, RAISE PRICES. Drilling may take time to lower prices, but tax increases on oil companies will have immediate results, and the type of results that ensure an overwhelming, earth shattering congressional swing from blue to red. Go ahead, Nancy, bring it. For years liberals have been saying that $5 per gallon gas would force us to wake up and go green. Instead, it will force us to wake up and elect adults who have a real economic and energy policy.

Well said Mike. Where did Fox get this guy anyway? Are they going after a demographic of young business-minded socialists with bad hair cuts and dung for brains?

Cody, the reason for tax incentives and subsidies in the oil industry is that it gives the USA government some power to control the big oil companies. the USA has some of the lowest at the gas pump prices in the world (outside OPEC). We also have Agriculture subsidies and so the USA has some of the lowest in the store food prices in the world too.........
