    Today’s Jams 1.29.08

Cody's pick for Today's Jams is Brian Eno. Here's what he has to say:

Brian Eno's first pop-esque album after his Roxy Music days, Here Come the Warm Jets, was recorded right after he left Roxy Music. For some reason iTunes gives Artist credits on every song of the album to Brian Eno and David Byrne. No other website I just checked out, from Amazon to Wikipedia's pages about this album even mention Byrne. Strange.

I don't know anything about Roxy Music, by the way...which I find strange, really, given how much I think I know about rock from that era. Gonna have to go on a Roxy Music blitz for a while, aren't I? Today's songs all come from Here Come the Warm Jets:

    1. Needles in the Camel's Eye (my favorite song on the album and a popular tune in my iTunes)

    2. The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch (that's David Byrne singing in there some, right?)

    3. Baby's On Fire

    4. Cindy Tells Me

    5. Blank Frank

    6. Here Come the Warm Jets

PS. Viewer/reader Ethan won the contest yesterday, asking for what rap song samples the beginning of The Chambers Brother's Funky. The answer is Tribe Called Quest's "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo. He'll be getting an Owl Bar & Grill T Shirt if he sends us his address...whattup with that, Ethan?

PPS. You can see me wearing one of my many Owl Bar shirts in this Refreshion video btw.

PPPS. I'll start doing these contests at least once a week, so stay tuned.
